2021 ECOSOC reports
Every year, the Economic and Social Council's (ECOSOC) operational activities for development segment (OAS) meets annually to provide overall coordination and guidance to the governing bodies of the United Nations development system. ECOSOC is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations (UN), responsible for the direction and coordination of the economic, social, humanitarian, and cultural activities carried out by the UN. It is the UN’s largest and most complex subsidiary body. This years segment is particularly critical for us as we prepare for the review of the Resident Coordinator (RC) system later this year. The 2021 OAS will focus on Amplifying the United Nations development systems impact in support of the Decade of Action. In this regard, I want to draw your attention to two key reports of critical importance to us that will be presented to the OAS, namely: (i) 2021 Secretary-Generals Report on the implementation of the QCPR and (ii) 2021 Report of the Chair of the UNSDG on DCO.
